Saint GoGo, 2025

                      Saint GoGo, 2025

icon painting ,155x145cm acrylics on wall

"Saint Gogo" was an ironic exploration of Byzantine iconography, specifically the figure of Saint George.

I created the painting not just for Giorgos, but for everyone—and for the space itself.

It was born during an artistic residency at Meyouthemus, nestled in the windswept mountains of Samos, where I stayed from August 21st to August 28th.

I was warmly hosted by Giorgos Gripeos, Anni Ruffin, and their enchanting young son, Nicolas—who, with disarming affection, called Giorgos “Gogo.”

That nickname became the title, and perhaps the key, to the work.

The mountains felt like a hidden monastery—far from people, far from 5G, and steeped in silence.

It was a place where I sensed myself resting in the arms of God.

But is God good—or evil?

I’ll leave that for you to decide.
